Nicole and I were in the basement taking care of Aspen, and I commented how nice it was that the boys were playing nicely in their room, and not screaming and fighting.
About 5 minutes later, I walked by the upstairs bathroom to see the following:
(Not actual photo-Artist's Recreation)
Micah was standing butt naked, holding a plunger, frantically trying to fix the toilet while telling Mason not to add any more toilet paper. Mason was standing next to him holding a new roll of toilet paper over the almost full toilet. I immediately told them both to stop what they were doing when I noticed that the toilet was still running. I took the plunger from Micah and that is when it happened.
The toilet started to overflow, and the plunger was not working, so I pulled the lid off the back of the toilet and lifted up the float sensor to get the water to stop running. I turned the valve in the back off so I could let go of the float sensor and have a talk with the boys.
Micah explained that he was going to the bathroom, (which is why he was naked) and when he was done Mason came in and they started throwing balls of toilet paper in the toilet and flushing it. They used up two full rolls of toilet paper!
I got them out of the bathroom and started to clean up. The handle had pushed through the rubber part of the plunger, so it was not going to work. First, I tried pumping the plunger head with my hand (instead of the handle) and when that didn't work, I had to stick my whole arm in and try to pull the clog out. The water was Ice Cold, but I eventually unclogged the toilet and cleaned up the mess. I then proceeded to wash my hands (and arms) for 15 minutes.
Finally, Nicole had to get them to come in the bathroom and get a picture to take credit for their handy work.
I guess when anything seems too good to be true, it probably is. Next time I notice they are playing quietly; I will be running and checking on them.

Like father like sons!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic. This is exactly why you need this blog.
ReplyDeleteYour two boys and toilets!!! It cracks me up! The two little grins with the toilet paper is super cute though. I just hope they don't teach my two boys this nice trick!! :)
